This initiative has led to a 38% reduction in the amount of waste sent to landfill each year. In 2019, we had 22 tonnes of rubbish go in the skip compared to 36 tonnes in 2018!
Bayfarms proudly sits on site next to the largest single site kiwifruit packing operation in New Zealand. Every Tuesday, each department onsite must take their general waste wheely bin to the central yard where it is tipped out in front of everyone and reviewed to identify where and how rubbish can be reduced. Not only has this created a high level of accountability for the rubbish collected, it has also seen a significant reduction in the rubbish we take to landfill and therefore the cost of this service as well.
